US Official Praises Gaza Peace Initiative as Complementary to UN
Speaking during a session titled “Emerging Partnerships in International Peace Mediation” at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Massad Boulos said the initiative involves wide international participation across multiple levels of implementation.
“There are hundreds of people, probably thousands, from numerous countries and organizations working together hand in hand towards the implementation of various aspects of this plan,” he said.
Boulos emphasized that the initiative is fully aligned with UN efforts. “It’s absolutely complementary to the UN. It’s in no way taking any role away from the UN,” he added.
He also expressed continued US confidence in the United Nations system, while acknowledging the need for internal reform. “The UN has a great potential … it requires, of course, reform, and these reforms are ongoing,” he said.
“We work very closely with the UN, and we shall continue to do so,” Boulos added.
The Board of Peace was launched in January on the initiative of US President Donald Trump as part of broader efforts aimed at supporting a peaceful settlement in Gaza. According to Washington, additional countries have since joined the framework.
