Iran arranges funeral for important figures murdered by Israel
The conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched extensive airstrikes targeting several locations across Iran, including nuclear and military sites. These strikes resulted in the deaths of numerous senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Iran retaliated with multiple missile and drone attacks against Israel.
The 12-day confrontation ended with a ceasefire agreement reached on Tuesday. During the funeral, mourners displayed Iranian flags and chanted slogans opposing Israel and the United States. They carried images of the "martyred" figures, including key leaders such as Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC); Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces; Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Division; and Gholam Ali Rashid and Ali Shadmani, commanders of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.
Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni declared at the ceremony that the U.S. and Israel had shown themselves unwilling to uphold any commitments. He stressed that the Iranian military remains alert and prepared to deliver a strong response to any hostile acts or broken promises by their adversaries.
Burial services for the fallen were planned to continue on Sunday.
