Putin Urges Citizen-Centered Global Development

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the necessity for a fresh global development framework—one that rejects neocolonial ideologies and remains immune to political interference.

While addressing a plenary session during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, Putin criticized the long-standing practices of the so-called “golden billion” nations.

According to him, over recent decades, these countries have been extracting wealth from other states to advance the agendas of a privileged elite.

He used the United States as a case in point, asserting that its “super incomes” failed to trickle down to everyday people or the middle segment of society.

Putin asserted that political evolution should tangibly impact the general population through improvements in living standards, education, scientific advancement, and public infrastructure.

He advocated for a “fundamentally new development model, one that is not built on the rules of neocolonialism.”

He further emphasized that this alternative approach must be “free from political manipulation” and should “focus on the needs of citizens.”
