Egypt’s Leader Condemns Israel’s Military Escalation Against Iran

(MENAFN) Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi spoke by phone on Saturday with Iranian official Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he strongly condemned Israel’s intensifying military actions against Iran, the Egyptian presidency reported.

Sisi cautioned that the escalation "poses a threat to the security and stability of the Middle East at a critical time when the region is experiencing multiple and escalating crises."

He called urgently for a ceasefire to enable renewed negotiations that could pave the way for a lasting and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

"There are no military solutions to this crisis," Sisi stressed, highlighting the necessity of de-escalation efforts to avoid widening "the cycle of violence."

Reaffirming Egypt’s long-held stance, the president emphasized that true regional peace depends on "the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy."

Meanwhile, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Egypt’s "wise positions" and praised Cairo’s proactive role in promoting regional stability.

He confirmed Iran’s support for Egypt’s call to pursue "a just, comprehensive, and final solution to the Palestinian issue."

This discussion represents the latest move by Egypt to diplomatically intervene amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, aiming to curb conflict flare-ups in the region.

The current surge in Israeli-Iranian hostilities began on June 13 when Israel executed extensive air and drone strikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities, resulting in heavy losses among senior commanders and nuclear scientists.

Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks directed at Israeli territory in response to these assaults.
